Should the Houses of Parliament Fly the English Flag?

Andrew Rosindell has succeeded in his campaign to have three Union Flags flown above Parliament on every day of the year.

Should the Cross of St George - the flag of England - also be flown above Parliament, in addition to the Union Flag?

I believe it would be inappropriate for the UK parliament which does not represent truly the English to fly our flag. Their job is to put the UK first not England and our flag would seem to me to be a sign of our subjugation rather than representation.

I believe the English flag should and must fly on every public building in England.

Fly the Cross of St. George with pride.

Personally I think that there should be a St George's Day debate at Westminster, and on that day the English flag should be flown. That was what I was proposing when I wrote to the DCMS.

I would like to see the cross of St. George and only the cross of St. George flying over parliament and all other public buildings for that matter and the flag of british occupation and domination over my country removed.

That is precisely my view.

We have been punished enough by having police and councils in ENGLAND telling us we can't fly it because it is "offensive" and "racist".

It is time for the English to assert their human rights in their own country.

Yes, but only on St. George's Day, marking the day as a special cause for celebration, and reminding us of our Christian heritage. (Politically incorrect on two counts!) It would be nice, too, if they made the PM give a televised address to the people of England on that day, rather like the US president's annual address to the Americans. It would be great to see Broon struggling to get out the 'E' word.

However, on that basis, we couldn't complain if the Scottish and Welsh flags were flown on their Saint's Days.

I want to see it flown every day and as the only national flag flown from public buildings in England.

I don't want to see Brown struggling to get "England" out of his mouth, I want England to get Brown out of its borders and banned from re-entry permanently.

I want to see the English flag every day. The Union flag is just a rag as far as I'm concerned.
When I say the English flag I mean a plain red cross on a white background. No other representations.

i want to see the st george fly on every public building and church in every county of england including cornwall and devon where a minority have put up there own flag more so cornwall where they have stuck this black funeral flag and thrown away there own culture and flag for a minority who think cornwall should have a wall built round it and probably armed guards too on the politics show down there a lot of people born in cornwall stated they were english first and corninsh second they want to use english money to create seperatism. where i live in the west midlands i can only see one st george flying for miles around yet there are plenty of flag poles that are empty or you might see a union flag

On the Record

We swear allegiance to the Crown and to Parliament. Our constitution is the sovereign Parliament—we do not have a constitution codified in any single document. It is written in many Acts of Parliament and is stored in conventions and practices but, ultimately, the sovereignty of the British people is vested in this Parliament. That is what it is to be part of the United Kingdom.
